I enjoy J Nathan. The books follow a simple pattern. The male and/or female lead has had a traumatic event in their past that has damaged their ability to trust and love until they meet the other and the barriers are broken through. Happily. Ever. After. This pattern really works for me. The books are enjoyable, quick reads. Until Alex fits this formula.

Alex is suffering the loss of everyone she has ever loved dearly and has moved in with her aunt. She is beyond sad. Hayden lives across the hall from Alex's aunt. He suffered a horrible loss; the murder of his beloved mom and suicide of his abusive father when he was 10. He bounced around in the foster system and ended up working for a bookie. He has commitment issues, is a man-whore who doesn't like to be touched, has an awful best friend and a dangerous lifestyle. When they meet the connection is there, but Hayden's demons won't allow him to even consider a relationship. He can't seem to stay away from Alex and she starts viewing him as her knight in shining armor. The truth is he needs her as much as she needs him, but his past and present may ruin their chances forever. You can't help but hurt for Alex and root for Hayden. These two belong together. They deserve their happiness.

Until Alex is a quick, fun read. Nice way to spend a few hours.

This is in a way a darker version of the usual young adult style. Yes you have tortured boy. Yes you have broken girl. Yes you have secrets. Tortured boys secrets are a little darker then usual.
And broken girl. I swear with each chapter for Alex just kept getting dumped on ! Hayden was wonderful. "Was it funny the first time?" Was my favorite quote of his it really set the time for his character.
And Alex? I did feel that there was almost to much angst for one character in a book. At times it seemed a little over the top, the bad things that kept happening to her. But I did enjoy her character. She was gutsy, sarcastic, and yet kind and sweet. I would enjoy knowing Alex in real life
So all in all a good book. Story line was unbelievable at times but I liked the characters so much I didn't care )
I couldn't put Until Alex down. It's the kind of novel that most readers will inhale and forget to fall asleep while reading. It was really interesting. I liked both of the main characters equally- which surprised me. Usually I like one more than the other(s) when an author changes points of view. In this novel I was always interested to hear what the other character was thinking. Good characterization and a fast moving, interesting plot with some unexpected turns. The writing style is good too. The dialogue felt realistic and was fun to read, the sentence structure was active and varied. J. Nathan can write.
I felt pretty bad that the female main character was tortured in almost every way possible, but I still recommend this book to anyone who likes a challenging romance and doesn't mind some blood thrown into the mix. I look forward to reading her next book.
Oh my gosh this is the first novel I have read by this author, but it certainly won't be the last. I loved it! Both characters had been through so much it made my heart hurt. I loved the dialogue and the chemistry between the characters. This novel grabbed me from the very first page and did not let me go until the very last. I can't wait to see what this author writes next. Loved it!
This is a beautiful story about two people broken, each at the hand of tragic circumstances. The story outlines the horror that Hayden witnesses as a young boy and how from that point forward he shuts people out and with his friend Remy ends up working as a collector of debts for their underhand boss Cooper. Hayden has learnt to keep everyone at arms length until he meets Alex.

Alex too has suffered loss in her life only recently and leaves her home to live with her estranged Aunt. Alex meets Hayden and slowly but surely she begins to feel safe and cherished by Hayden and as a result she gradually unlocks Hayden's heart stripping away his protective walls enabling him to love, trust and open himself up to Alex. There are many instances in Hayden's life that he regrets but Alex empowers him, through her love, to change.

I liked this story because the author keeps your attention throughout. There is a good mix of anxiety, grief and love which had me wondering how the story would end. This is a 5+ star read. I will definitely not hesitate to read more from this author.

I just finished this book and my heart is still beating from all the different emotional roller coasters that this book took me through! I loved Alex and Hayden’s story! This book was such a breath of fresh air even though the storyline is the same old "virgin girl who falls for the bad boy who is also a man whore and one who can't/won't love anyone but gets transformed by the innocent virgin falls in love and turns into a one woman man." While this is book is EXACTLY that, the way that it is written is so wonderfully done it will feel as if you're reading this type storyline for the very first time. This book will reach something so deep within you that you can't help but be compelled to love these characters and relate to them! I really honestly fell in love with these characters and I felt as if I was right there with them going through all their emotional baggage and beautiful life realizations. This book is about love, hate, pain, beauty, pleasure, sex, lust, guilt, redemption, self worth, and lack there of. This book is the book of all books that you've been waiting for to tell you the story that is so realistic and believable that no one could tell you these aren't real people. The connection and bond was there from me the reader to the characters and this book was so good, and so well worth the money and time that once you start reading you won't be able to put it down because it's THAT good!
